Extended Bio

In 2019, I graduated from American University with an MFA in Film and Electronic Media. This program allowed me to expand my breadth of knowledge in video production for fiction and documentary film, photography, graphic design, producing, and editing. During my second year, I concentrated my studies on writing, taking classes in short story, advanced screenwriting for feature film, and television screenwriting, which allowed me to write a total of six screenplays.  For my thesis, I completed a feature screenplay, "Maria, In Lights", which was nominated for best feature screenplay at the 2019 American University Visions Awards. During the same show, my short story "Topolina" was also nominated for best short story. While at American University, I was also a graduate teaching assistant. For two years, I worked in the television production studio, captioned online videos, conducted topic research, organized and managed professor schedules, contacted students, set up meetings, and co-produced a student award show. While co-producing the awards show I organized and coordinated 30+ judges and maintained daily communication with them via phone and email, sending them Excel spreadsheets, google sheets and invitations to the award show. After graduation, I continued my freelance career and in two years completed 20 productions as editor, director, screenwriter, and sound mixer. These projects have given me hands-on experience in the industry and allowed me to hone my editing skills in Adobe Premiere Pro, AVID and Final Cut Pro X. In 2019, my mashup edit, “Autobiographical Mashup”, the first major project I edited, won two awards at the 2019 American University Vision Awards - “WIFV Craft Editing” and “Best Editing/Mashup”. That night, “Anacostia Revealed”, a documentary that I edited won best environmental film.
